Iranian Military Delegation Discusses Cooperation With Russian Defense Ministry

An Iranian military delegation led by the commander of the ground forces of the Iranian military, Kioumars Heydari, has arrived in Moscow to discuss bilateral defense cooperation, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday.

The official part of the talks took place at the headquarters of the commander-in-chief of the Russian ground forces where the parties discussed military interaction and cooperation in projects aimed at increased combat readiness of both countries' armed forces, the ministry said.
"Russia considers Iran as one of the key states in the Middle East. It is Russia's strategic partner, and the constant and intensive political dialogue is a characteristic feature of the current phase of our partnership," Army Gen. Oleg Salyukov, the commander-in-chief of the Russian ground forces, said.
During the meeting, the two military leaders agreed to increase cooperation between both countries' ground forces in various fields. Later in the day, the Iranian delegation is also expected to visit the military educational institutions of the Russian ground forces as well as Russian defense industry plants.

At the beginning of the visit, the Iranian delegation laid wreaths and flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in in Moscow, and before the meeting with Salyukov, they visited the Army-2023 military forum in the Moscow Region, where they got acquainted with the latest Russian weapons.
