Kiev's Attempted Drone Attack on Moscow Thwarted, Russian Defense Ministry Says

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Kiev tried to attack an object in Moscow with a drone on Friday, the Russian Defense Ministry said, adding that the drone was suppressed by means of electronic warfare.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that "this afternoon, an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack with an unmanned aerial vehicle [UAV] on a facility in Moscow was thwarted."
The UAV was suppressed by means of electronic warfare and crashed in a forest area in the west of the capital near the Karamyshevskaya embankment.
"As a result of the thwarted terrorist attack, there are no casualties and no damage," the statement added.

The Russian Defense Ministry also said it prevented attacks by Ukrainian drones on the approach to Moscow on Thursday night. One UAV was shot down in the Kaluga region (federal subject of Russia), the second — in the area of the Central Ring Road federal highway outside the city of Moscow.
In addition, near the Russian city of Sevastopol, air defense personnel on duty repelled two UAVs, nine more were suppressed by electronic warfare and, failing to reach the target, fell into the Black Sea, the Defense Ministry said.
