The Russian Football Union (RFU) will participate in the second Russia–Africa Summit to be held in the Russian city of St. Petersburg on July 27-28, according to RFU Deputy General Secretary Erika Surikova.
"Our participation in the Russia-Africa government summit is a continuation of RFU's systematic work in the sphere of international relations and development of business partnerships, which we started when we participated in SPIEF-2023 [St. Petersburg International Economic Forum] for the first time last month," Surikova told Russian media.
According to the deputy head of the RFU, within the framework of the upcoming Russia–Africa Summit, the association plans to organize a number of panel discussions, meetings and negotiations.
"We will have our own pavilion, and at the end of the summit, together with Roscongress [Foundation], we have planned a friendly match with the participation of Russian national team legends and African stars who at different times played for Russian Premier League clubs, as well as politicians, businessmen and diplomats," Surikova said.
It should be noted that as part of the work at the summit, the RFU leadership plans to hold talks with a number of African states on further cooperation and friendly matches.
