Moscow is closely watching the discussion between the media of Russia and Africa; Russia is ready to contribute to the deepening of their interaction, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a video message to the participants of the media forum in Cairo, dedicated to the dialogue between Russia and Africa.
"I am sure Moscow will carefully study the results of our discussion, will assist in the development and strengthening of ties between the media communities of our countries. I sincerely hope that today's meeting will allow representatives of the Russian and African media to find new points of contact and give impetus to the deepening of their interaction," the diplomat said.
The participants of the media forum will get acquainted with the detailed presentation of the second Russia–Africa Summit and its media segments. A separate session is provided for a thorough discussion on new formats of cooperation, including the development of social networks. On its platform, experts will also discuss the emerging prospects in the work of the African media.
Zakharova noted that the Russia–Africa Summit, which will be held at the end of July in St. Petersburg, Russia on 26-29 July, will be a good occasion to continue the dialogue between journalists from Russia and Egypt, as well as other African countries.
"[The Summit] was first organized in 2019 under the joint chairmanship of the President of Russia and the President of Egypt. We hope that this tradition of close interaction and contacts at the highest level will be continued this year as well," the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
During the media conference, Russian Ambassador to Egypt Georgy Borisenko stated that Moscow anticipates Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will represent his nation at the second Russia–Africa Summit.
According to the ambassador, the forthcoming summit will simultaneously contribute to strengthening Africa's role in an international system that is becoming multipolar and assist in enhancing Russia-Africa economic cooperation, to their mutual advantage.
