A driver an oxygen tank van was injured in the explosion and subsequent fire in the center of the Itailian city of Milan on Thursday, a fire service spokesman told Sky TG24.
"The information about the four victims was erroneous, thank God, at the moment only the driver is considered injured," the fireman said.
Earlier reports said that at least 4 persons were injured as a result of the explosion that hit Milan.
While the official cause of the explosion has yet to be announced, local media reported, citing witnesses, that a van with oxygen tanks blew up, probably destined for the nearby Italian Auxological Institute.
Some passers-by saw one of the cylinders catch fire, followed by a very violent explosion. The fire also engulfed four cars parked on the street, a nearby pharmacy, and apartments in a nearby building. Ambulances and firefighters are on site. The carabinieri have cordoned off the area.
Shortly after the first reports on the incident occured, Sky Tg24 reported that firefighters managed to extinguish the large fire that engulfed at least four cars.
