Last week, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko stated that Russia will assist in rebuilding the Russian Red Cross hospital in Addis Ababa. Following discussions with Ethiopian Ambassador Genet Teshome Jirru, they agreed to boost healthcare cooperation, including medical education, specialist consultations, and expanded training for doctors.
The Russian government will allocate 50 million rubles (about $530,000) in 2025 to purchase medical equipment for the Russian Red Cross hospital in Addis Ababa, according to the text of the
directive signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
"In 2025, allocate budgetary funds from the federal budget to the Ministry of Health of Russia, amounting to up to 49,884,600 rubles, to provide a subsidy to the All-Russian public organization 'Russian Red Cross' for purchasing equipment for the hospital of the All-Russian public organization 'Russian Red Cross' named after Dejazmach Balcha in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia)," read the document.
