The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the recent attack on a Saudi hospital in the Sudanese town of El Fasher allegedly carried out by Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF), calling it a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, UAE news agency WAM reported on Sunday. Sudanese officials have repeatedly accused the UAE of supporting the RSF rebels; however, Abu Dhabi has denied the allegations. Since April 15, 2023, there has been fierce fighting in Sudan between the RSF under the command of Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo and the regular army. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said the ongoing hostilities in the country could lead to disease outbreaks and a fatal collapse of the healthcare system. Sudan's Ambassador to Russia, Mohamed Siraj, expressed hope in an interview with Sputnik in early January that the armed conflict in his country would end in 2025.

UAE Slams Strike on Saudi Hospital in Western Sudan, Reports Say
10:20 27.01.2025 (Updated: 17:14 27.01.2025) DUBAI (Sputnik) - On Saturday, Darfur Governor Suliman Arcua Minnawi said that an RSF drone had struck the emergency room of a Saudi hospital in El Fasher, the capital of the North Darfur state of Sudan, killing more than 70 patients.
The United Arab Emirates has strongly
condemned the recent attack on a Saudi hospital in the Sudanese town of El Fasher allegedly carried out by Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF), calling it a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, UAE news agency WAM reported on Sunday.
"The UAE reaffirms its stance on the need for a peaceful solution to the conflict, an immediate ceasefire, and the protection of civilians and institutions, as well as medical centers and health workers," WAM quoted Sheikh Shahbut al-Nahyan, a cabinet member in the UAE government, as saying.
Sudanese officials have repeatedly accused the UAE of supporting the RSF rebels; however, Abu Dhabi has denied the allegations.
"The attacks on El Fasher Maternity Hospital continue, the latest of which was a drone strike that resulted in casualties among patients. These attacks are a blatant violation of international humanitarian law. All medical facilities must be protected," the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Sudan said in a statement.
