Besides anti-corruption actions, Ghana's president-elect expressed his commitment to improving the well-being of Ghanaians by creating sustainable and well-paid jobs, and affordable housing and healthcare amid the economic crisis the country is facing.
Ghana's President-Elect
John Dramani Mahama established a team to gather information on suspected corruption cases ahead of his presidency, Mahama's transition team said in a statement.
"As a preparatory measure towards the rollout of John Dramani Mahama's promise to recover proceeds of corruption and hold persons responsible for such corruption accountable when he assumes office, a team has been set up to receive and gather information from members of the public and other sources on suspected acts of corruption," the statement read.
According to the statement, a five-member team will lead the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative, aimed at tackling corruption.
"Anti-corruption, with Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) as a major plank, formed a core part of John Mahama's policy platform in the 2024 campaign, and he intends to hit the ground running on these commitments," the statement added.
On December 10, shortly after being officially declared the winner of the December 7 presidential election, Mahama pledged to implement
strict governance reforms for the country's recovery.
"We would be initiating important governance reforms and sometimes initiating severe measures in the next four years to reset our nation and bring it back on track as the black star of Africa," he stated.
