The Border Guard Corps, a unit under the Egyptian Army, is responsible for safeguarding Egypt's land and sea borders, including the Suez Canal, and combating illegal immigration, smuggling, human trafficking, and drug trafficking.
Egypt's armed forces disrupted criminal and smuggling activities threatening national security, Colonel Gharib Abdel-Hafiz Gharib, the country's military spokesperson, said.
Intensified patrols and searches by the Border Guard Forces at key locations, including crossings, tunnels, and roads, led to substantial drug seizures and the dismantling of hydroponic farms in North, Central, and South Sinai, according to the colonel.
Furthermore, joint operations resulted in the seizure of weapons and ammunition, the disruption of illegal gold mining, and the prevention of numerous cross-border migration attempts.
