MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) - Brazilian President Luiz Inacio da Silva, who underwent a surgery to drain a hematoma, did not have any complications during the night and is in good spirits, Brazilian news portal Metropoles reported on Wednesday, citing a doctor.
Cardiologist Roberto Kalil Filho reportedly shared this information with reporters gathered outside the Syrian-Lebanese Hospital in Sao Paulo.
Lula felt headaches on Monday evening, and a brain scan showed an intracranial hemorrhage allegedly caused by an accident in October. He was subsequently transferred from a hospital in Brasilia to Sao Paulo, where the surgery took place.
On October 19, Lula sustained a head injury at home. While the injury posed no serious health risks, doctors advised the president to avoid long-distance travel. As a result, Lula canceled his visit to Russia and participated in the BRICS Summit via video conference.
