On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated at Valdai's Discussion Club's session that Russia is not only defending its sovereignty and rights but is also striving for the freedom and the possibility for the existence and development of most nations.
The Kiev regime openly supports terrorists in Africa, and Russia will fight against this unacceptable practice, stated Acting Director of the Department for New Challenges and Threats of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Georgiy Mikhno, at the first ministerial conference of the
Russia-Africa Partnership Forum on Saturday.
"It is necessary to note the destructive activities of the criminal Kiev regime, which openly supports terrorist groups in Africa," he stated.
An obvious acknowledgment of support for international terrorism is the statements of Ukrainian officials about Kiev providing assistance to terrorist forces in Mali, Mikhno pointed out.
"Therefore, Mali and Niger's decision to immediately sever diplomatic relations with Kiev, in our opinion, is absolutely logical," he noted. "These actions by Ukraine have been condemned by many African countries, and Mali and Niger sent a joint letter to the UN Security Council chair on August 21, demanding measures in connection with Ukraine's support of terrorism in Africa, especially in the Sahel region."
Moreover, Russia will support Africa against Kiev's terrorism on international platforms as well, Mikhno added.
"In the first place, we will fight this support of terrorists in Africa by Kiev on international platforms and will fully support our African partners regarding their views on the criminal activities of the Kiev regime, which now also extends to Africa," stated the acting director.
Russia, as the diplomat emphasized, believes that such a practice of criminal cooperation with international terrorist forces is "absolutely unacceptable."
"We will continue to fight this evil by all available means, regardless of where it manifests itself – in Russia or Africa," Mikhno concluded.
The first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum takes place on November 9-10 in Sochi. About 1,500 delegates are participating in the event, including more than 40 ministers from the African continent.
