From October 22 to 24, the BRICS Summit was held in Russia's Kazan. It was the largest foreign policy event in Russia this year, with 36 countries participating, according to Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov, with 22 of them at the highest level.
The West couldn't isolate Russia; the results of the BRICS Summit in Russia's Kazan have proved that, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the opening ceremony of the 8th World Congress of Russian Compatriots Living Abroad.
"Attempts to isolate Russia in the international arena have been a complete failure. Many countries do not follow the West; they are strengthening relations with us in various areas," Lavrov noted.
Earlier, Dr. Nicodemus Minde, a PhD in International Relations and a social science researcher, told Sputnik Africa that the BRICS Summit debunked many myths about Russia's perceived isolation, and it also sent a strong message to the West that the world wants multipolarity and is therefore moving towards it.
The researcher added that as the world is developing, broader reforms are needed in the UN Security Council, including the membership reform. He noted that BRICS is pushing for the alternative voice and broader multipolarity, which increases the demand for such reforms.
