TEL AVIV (Sputnik) - Tensions between Israel and Lebanon have surged in recent weeks, following increased rocket exchanges between Hezbollah and Israeli forces. The conflict escalated after a series of Israeli airstrikes on Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, prompting retaliations.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are engaged in intense fighting with Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, calling on residents not to drive vehicles south of the Litani River, IDF spokesman Avichai Edri said on Tuesday.

"Fierce fighting is taking place in southern Lebanon, with Hezbollah forces using civilians and the population as human shields to carry out attacks. For your personal safety, we ask that you do not travel by vehicle from the north to the area south of the Litani River," Edri wrote on X.

Israeli Army Says Launched Limited Ground Raids Against Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon
Meanwhile, a source in the Lebanese Defense Ministry told Sputnik on Tuesday that the Lebanese army has withdrawn from a number of observation positions on the border with Israel due to the lack of ability to supply their military.

"A redeployment was carried out, and we withdrew our forces from several observation posts on the border due to difficulties with supply logistics," the source said.
