MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The Russian Energy Week (REW) is an annual international forum discussing topics such as technological leadership, energy efficiency, and international cooperation in the fuel and energy sector. In 2024, it will be held in Moscow on September 26-28. The main topic is "Energy Cooperation in a Multipolar World."
BRICS energy ministers will hold a meeting on the sidelines of the REW to outline ways to strengthen the organization's role in the global energy dialogue, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday.
"A meeting of the BRICS energy ministers, which will become one of the key events of the year of Russia's chairmanship in this association, will take place on the sidelines of the forum. During the talks, it is necessary to agree on common principles for our countries of a fair energy transition and outline ways to strengthen the role of BRICS in the global energy dialogue," Putin said in an address to the forum participants and guests.
Significant attention in the REW 2024 business program will be given to issues of international cooperation. Within the "International Agenda: Cooperation for Development" block, sessions dedicated to Russia-Africa energy cooperation, a meeting of BRICS energy ministers, the annual meeting of the BRICS Energy Research Platform, and discussions on global industry trends are planned.
