The initiative to hold the Forum was proposed by the Council of Young Diplomats of the Russian Foreign Ministry in 2015 as part of the implementation of the Concept of Horizontal Diplomacy. This year, the Forum is being held under the auspices of Russia's chairmanship of BRICS.
The Forum of Young Diplomats of the BRICS Plus has started in Ufa and will last until August 31. After nine years, the capital of Russia's Republic of Bashkortostan once again hosted about 100 delegates from about 30 countries of the Global South and East.
According to the organizing committee, the Forum is designed to promote the strengthening of youth cooperation, friendship, and trust between the countries of the Global South and East and the peoples living in them.

The Forum is held under the theme: "The Role of Youth Diplomacy in Strengthening Multilateralism for Fair Global Development and Security."

The organizers have prepared a rich business and cultural program. On the first day of the Forum, participants discussed cultural and humanitarian cooperation in the BRICS space and the place of the bloc in the global economy and finance. The delegates are also expected to discuss the topic of strengthening youth cooperation and the role of BRICS in the global political, global security architecture and the formation of multipolarity.

In his video address to the participants, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized: "It is noteworthy that in 2024 the capital of Bashkortostan, the city of Ufa, has once again been chosen as the meeting place."
According to Lavrov, in Ufa, at the "crossroads of civilizations," representatives of different religions and peoples have lived in peace and harmony for many centuries.
"This is a vivid example of how the diversity of the ethnic-confessional and cultural landscape can become the basis for long-term development and sustainable mutual understanding. Relations between the BRICS countries are built on the same principles," he said.
The ever-growing interest in the Association, as per the Russian foreign minister, clearly demonstrates that the participants' aspirations aimed at forming a more equitable architecture of international interaction are in line with deep objective geopolitical transformations. This meets with a positive response from the states of the world majority, which indicates the demand for the Association's joint efforts.
"I am confident that your Forum will contribute to strengthening the comprehensive partnership, the atmosphere of friendship and trust between our countries and peoples. The innovation and flexibility of thinking inherent in young diplomats will contribute to finding solutions to problems in the areas of politics and security, economics and finance, and humanitarian cooperation," he concluded.
On the first day of the business program, the delegates, and guests of the Forum were received by the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, who highly praised the role of young diplomats of the BRICS countries in the formation of a new fair world order.

"The young generation of diplomats will have to take on more and more responsibility for the implementation of the foreign policy of their states. Your discussions, expert assessments, and constructive proposals will undoubtedly contribute to strengthening international cooperation, new professional contacts, and the joint development of important decisions," he noted.
