MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Durov, who has dual Russian-French citizenship, was detained at an airport north of Paris on Saturday. The 39-year-old Russian-born is expected to appear before a judge on Sunday on charges linked to criminal uses of his social media app, which could land him in prison for up to 20 years.
Russia will monitor the reaction of international organizations to the arrest of Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Sunday.

"We will factor the behavior and reactions of international organizations, which in other cases have piled political, informational and psychological pressure on our country, in our work. We really want to see, and we will monitor what kind of vigilance they will show in protecting human rights and freedom of speech," Zakharova told the Rossiya 24 broadcaster.
