10:50 23.08.2024 (Updated: 11:12 23.08.2024) JAKARTA (Sputnik) - The Palestinian government expects a large-scale Israeli operation in the West Bank, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' adviser on international relations and his special envoy, Riyad al-Maliki, said in an interview with Sputnik.
"I believe that this is [Israel’s operation] possible after finishing their objectives in Gaza and after the full destruction in Gaza of all facilities … Now they are moving into other fronts. One is South Lebanon, but the other is also in the West Bank," al-Maliki said.
However, he believes that Palestine is very well-prepared for such a situation if it happens.
"Obviously, people, first of all, they will resist, they will stay, and they will try to fight for their presence, for their existence," al-Maliki noted, adding that the number of military incursions into cities, villages, and refugee camps in the West Bank increased by two, three, or even four times.
