On August 6, the Ukrainian military went on the offensive with the aim of seizing territory in the Kursk region, but its advance was stopped. The incursion has sparked a range of international reactions, including those from African countries and China.
A number of African countries and China expressed their concern about what is happening in the Kursk region at the UN Security Council meeting on the “Arria formula,” said Ambassador at Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik.
“I think that our partners will be able to independently express their opinion on the ongoing processes. At least yesterday at the meeting [of the UN Security Council on the Arria formula], representatives of a number of African states, China, and a number of other countries [...] expressed concern about the processes taking place in the Kursk [region],” Miroshnik said during a briefing.
According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, this incursion is considered to be a provocation, and the Ukrainian military forces are firing indiscriminately, including at civilian targets. Putin said that the enemy will receive
a worthy response.Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov, stated that the operation in the Kursk region
will be completed with the defeat of the enemy and access to the state border.
In Kursk, as well as Belgorod and Bryansk regions, a counter-terrorism operation is in place to ensure the safety of citizens.
