MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold a meeting on June 27 with President of the Republic of the Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso as part of the latter's official visit to Russia, the Kremlin said on Wednesday.
"On June 27, Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold talks with President of Republic of Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso, who is in Russia on an official visit. It is planned to discuss the prospects for the development of Russian-Congolese relations in various fields, as well as issues on the regional and international agenda," the Kremlin said in a statement.
Just earlier in June, Russian FM Sergey Lavrov visited the Central African country for the second time in two years, where he met with his Congolese counterpart, Jean-Claude Gakosso.
Both countries reassured their commitment to continuing to develop military-technical cooperation between them.

During the Russia-Africa Summit last year, Putin met with Sassou Nguesso and emphasized the successful collaboration between the two nations on international platforms, including the United Nations. He also mentioned that trade between the Republic of the Congo and Russia increased by 85% from January to April of last year.
