France has no plans to send its troops to Ukraine and has never trained the Ukrainian military in Ukraine itself, French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal said on Thursday, adding, however, that the issue of sending French military instructors to Kiev was not a taboo.
"We have been participating in the training of the Ukrainian military since the beginning of the war [the Ukraine conflict], in particular in France and on the territory of some of our neighbors. France has prepared 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers … Never there [in Ukraine], but this issue is not a taboo, it has not been so since the end of February," Attal said in an interview with France 2 broadcaster streamed on the politician's X.
Attal recalled the February meeting of the world state leaders in France to discuss support for Kiev, saying that the issue of sending military instructors to Ukraine was part of the meeting agenda.
"There are no such plans. You know, we have discussed this issue many times," Attal told the broadcaster when asked if Paris was planning to send its troops to Ukraine.
Russia has repeatedly warned NATO countries that arms deliveries to Ukraine would be considered legitimate targets. Moscow has accused NATO countries of "playing with fire" by arming Ukraine, stressing that such actions hinder the possibility of Russia-Ukraine negotiations. Supplying the Kiev regime with NATO-standard, high-precision, long-range weapons is the way to very serious problems. Vladimir Putin also warned on June 5 during his meeting with representatives of the international press.
