MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Seven Ukrainian servicepeople who were training in Germany have been expelled from the country for using right-wing extremist symbols, the German government said on Thursday.
"Seven such cases were identified within the framework of the Bundeswehr's training for the Ukrainian armed forces. The training of the Ukrainian servicepeople concerned was immediately stopped in coordination with the Ukrainian armed forces, and the persons concerned were sent back to Ukraine," the government said in a response to a request from several lawmakers from the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.
Ukrainian servicepeople are instructed not to use Nazi symbols upon arrival in Germany, the government added.
Meanwhile, the symbols of right-wing nationalist Ukrainian organizations such as the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN)* - Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA)*, the Right Sector* radical party and the Azov regiment* have not been banned in Germany, the government said.
