UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) - On Tuesday, the US media reported, citing health officials that the Gaza Health Ministry can no longer accurately tally the number of people killed in the enclave as its health care system is in ruin and many bodies remain under the rubble.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said most health care facilities in Gaza have been destroyed, with the majority no longer functioning and some resembling graveyards.
“The health system in Gaza has been decimated by the war. Two-thirds of hospitals and health centers are out of action; many of those that remain are seriously damaged,” Guterres said. "Some hospitals now resemble cemeteries."

The UN chief added that it was imperative to give international investigators access to mass graves in Gaza in order to establish the facts amid competing narratives about the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians buried there.
“There are competing narratives around several of these mass graves, including serious allegations that some of those buried were unlawfully killed, It is imperative that independent international investigators, with forensic expertise, are allowed immediate access to the sites of these mass graves, to establish the precise circumstances under which hundreds of Palestinians lost their lives and were buried, or reburied,” Guterres said.
