MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Russia and the Central African Republic (CAR) are in talks on the delivery of 30,000 tonnes of Russian combustible fuels to Bangui, Russian Ambassador to the CAR Alexander Bikantov has told Sputnik.
The ambassador said negotiations on the matter are underway between the Russian Energy Ministry and the Ministry of Development, Energy, and Hydraulic Resources of the CAR.
"We are talking about the delivery of 30,000 tonnes of Russian combustible fuels to the CAR. In Bangui, Russia is seen as an energy superpower that can effectively solve the problem of fuel and lubricants deficit in the country," the ambassador said.
In addition to developing relations in the field of energy, both countries actively interact in the
military sphere. Thus, according to the ambassador, Russia delivered seven L-39 trainer jets to the CAR last summer, having laid the foundation for the creation of a new type of troops — the air force — within the CAR armed forces.
"Last summer, Russia supplied Bangui with seven L-39 trainer jets. Thus, our country actually laid the foundation for the creation of a new separate type of troops — army aviation — within the CAR Armed Forces," Bikantov said.
He added that new
