The Nigerien military and a German delegation led by Defense Minister Boris Pistorius discussed the resumption of military cooperation between the two countries during a meeting in the African country on Tuesday, Niger's CNSP said. In order to operate in Niger, all foreign troops will have to fulfil "new conditions", notably being "assessed" by the Nigerien people, the country's Defense Minister Gen. Salifou Mody said. After Niger's military authorities came to power in July 2023, they demanded the withdrawal of French troops from the African country, saying that the former colonizer's forces did not succeed in combating terrorism there.
