The draft resolution calling for an immediate humanitarian truce in Gaza was backed by 120 nations, with 45 abstentions. Fourteen countries voted against the peace initiative, including Austria, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Hungary, Israel, and the United States. The UN "supports anti-Semites" and must be disbanded, Cernochova said. On October 7, Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise large-scale rocket attack against Israel from the Gaza Strip and breached the border, killing and abducting people in neighboring Israeli communities. Israel launched retaliatory strikes and ordered a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip, home to more than 2 million people, cutting off supplies of water, food, and fuel. The blockade was later eased to allow trucks with humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. The escalation of the conflict has resulted in thousands of people killed and injured on both sides.

Czech Defense Minister Calls on Prague to Withdraw From UN
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Czech Defense Minister Jana Cernochova on Sunday called for the country's withdrawal from the United Nations following the signing of a General Assembly resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.
The draft resolution calling for an immediate humanitarian truce in Gaza was backed by 120 nations, with 45 abstentions. Fourteen countries voted against the peace initiative, including Austria, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Hungary, Israel, and the United States.
"I am ashamed of the UN. In my opinion, the Czech Republic has no business being in an organization that cheers on terrorists and does not respect the basic right to self-defense. We should leave [the UN]," the minister said.
The UN "supports anti-Semites" and must be disbanded, Cernochova said.
"Why should there be an organization that cannot even use the few principles and capabilities it has?" Cernochova said.
On October 7, Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise large-scale rocket attack against Israel from the Gaza Strip and breached the border, killing and abducting people in neighboring Israeli communities.
