"An exchange of views was held on the current situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone and possible further steps towards de-escalation. The urgent need to ensure the protection of civilians and prevent the crisis from spreading to other countries in the region was emphasized," the ministry said in a statement. Russia said that there was no alternative to settling the conflict except through the creation of an independent Palestinian state that would peacefully coexist with Israel, the statement read.
