In early September, Senegalese President Sall nominated the country's Prime Minister Ba as the state's ruling party candidate for the next year's presidential elections in Senegal, media said. In July, Sall reportedly announced that he will not run for the third presidential term.
Senegal's leader Macky Sall retained the country's Prime Minister Amadou Ba ahead of presidential elections next year amid the terminations of the functions of the state's ministers and members of the Senegal government, according to a communique.

"The President of the Republic [of Senegal], has [...] decided to establish a new government, under the leadership of the Prime Minister Amadou Ba," the statement read.

In addition, the document noted that Sall "terminated, by decree dated October 6, 2023, the functions of the ministers, members of the government."
"The composition of the new government will be published soon," the communique reported.
According to reports, in early September, Sall officially nominated Ba as the candidate representing the country's ruling party Benno Bokk Yaakaar (which could be translated as "United in hope") in the upcoming 2024 presidential election, which is expected to take place in February.
The president himself will not participate in the future elections, which he reportedly revealed in a televised address to the nation on July 3.

"The 2019 term was my second and last term," the leader was quoted by outlet as saying.
