Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed his country's commitment to strengthening ties with Ethiopia in the areas of trade, investment and security. In a meeting after presenting his credentials to President Tinubu, Ethiopian Ambassador Awwal Wagris Mohammed spoke with the Nigerian leader about further strengthening the long-standing diplomatic relations between Ethiopia and Nigeria, according to the state-run Ethiopian News Agency (ENA).The ambassador also reportedly congratulated Tinubu on his election as President of Nigeria in May.Both sides emphasized their commitment to strengthening cooperation through bilateral and multilateral platforms.The Ethiopian diplomat highlighted the importance of previously signed agreements between the two countries and expressed his determination to work towards their effective implementation during his tenure as Ambassador.In addition, the ambassador briefed President Tinubu on Ethiopia's efforts to consolidate peace in post-conflict scenarios. He emphasized the importance of resolving conflicts with African solutions, a principle that Ethiopia has exemplified. In particular, Ethiopia recently resolved a two-year armed conflict in the northern region of Tigray through an African Union-brokered peace agreement in November 2022.
