Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom is ready to provide BRICS countries with new high-tech radiopharmaceuticals for cancer treatment, the company's senior executive Kirill Komarov said.The official noted that through the range of isotopes supplied and through the development of radiopharmaceuticals based on them, Rosatom has "good opportunities to expand its long-standing cooperation" with the BRICS countries.As Komarov recalled, this January, Rosatom started building the largest European plant for the production of world-class radiopharmaceuticals in Russia's Obninsk. The facility is expected to ensure Russia's technological sovereignty in this high-tech field.After the launch of the plant, Rosatom intends to extend the range of radiopharmaceuticals produced in Russia to 25 or more items from the current 11, Komarov added.Earlier, Rosatom told Sputnik that it plans to start mining uranium in Namibia in 2029 with an estimated investment of 500 million USD.The project would increase Namibia's GDP by 1-2% in annual terms, Rosatom stressed.

Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom is ready to provide BRICS countries with new high-tech radiopharmaceuticals for cancer treatment, the company's senior executive Kirill Komarov said.
"Rosatom is working on the whole line of nuclear medicine - from the production of radioactive isotopes to the construction of centers providing high-tech care to the population," Komarov said.
The official noted that through the range of isotopes supplied and through the development of radiopharmaceuticals based on them, Rosatom has "good opportunities
to expand its long-standing cooperation" with the BRICS countries.
As Komarov recalled, this January, Rosatom started building the largest European plant for the production of world-class radiopharmaceuticals in Russia's Obninsk. The facility is expected to ensure Russia's technological sovereignty in this high-tech field.
In 2025, the new plant's 21 technological lines are expected to produce radiopharmaceutical products based on lutetium-177, actinium-225, radium-223 and other isotopes for the treatment of inoperable metastatic forms of cancer.
After the launch of the plant,
Rosatom intends to extend the range of radiopharmaceuticals produced in Russia to 25 or more items from the current 11, Komarov added.
"I am confident that these radiopharmaceuticals will be in demand not only in our country, but also by all our BRICS partners," he emphasized.
Earlier, Rosatom told Sputnik that it plans to start mining uranium in Namibia in 2029 with an estimated investment of 500 million USD.
