The statement came after the World Health Organization on Friday canceled the global status of the COVID-19 pandemic, declared in 2020. The Foreign Ministry added that now that the world has overcome the acute phase of the crisis, the problem of "global post-crisis recovery, in particular, its socio-economic dimension" remains relevant. The Foreign Ministry noted that recently the facts of corruption on a global scale around American pharmaceutical companies and those who saturated the national markets with their vaccines have been revealed more and more frequently. On December 31, 2019, Chinese authorities informed the WHO of an outbreak of unknown pneumonia in the city of Wuhan in the central part of the country (Hubei province). At the same time, the first people who fell ill were somehow connected with the local seafood market. In early January 2020, it was officially announced in China that the cause of the outbreak of viral pneumonia of unknown origin was a new type of coronavirus. As early as March 11, 2020, the head of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus, declared that the spread of the new coronavirus was pandemic in nature. At least 20 million people have died from COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, WHO head said.

Foreign Ministry: Russia Ready to Cooperate With All States to Prevent Future Pandemics
15:04 06.05.2023 (Updated: 10:34 02.12.2023) MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia is ready to provide assistance and cooperate with all countries on the principles of solidarity in global health care in order to prevent future pandemics, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The statement came after the World Health Organization on Friday
canceled the global status of the COVID-19 pandemic, declared in 2020.
"Russia is ready to provide assistance and cooperate with all countries on the principles of solidarity, equality and respect for international law to find mutually acceptable solutions to reach the positive dynamics of sustainable development and to deepen international cooperation in global health care in order to prevent pandemics in the future," the ministry's statement read.
The Foreign Ministry added that now that the
world has overcome the acute phase of the crisis, the problem of "global post-crisis recovery, in particular, its socio-economic dimension" remains relevant.
The Foreign Ministry noted that recently the facts of corruption on a global scale around American pharmaceutical companies and those who saturated the national markets with their vaccines have been revealed more and more frequently.
"Nevertheless, despite all the revealed difficulties and problems, the world managed to cope with this heavy blow and save millions of lives, which was possible only thanks to mutual support and cooperation," the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed.
