Burkina Faso Aims to Accelerate Digital Development in 2026
The Burkinabe government has made digital development a priority this year, allocating $109.4 million to support this effort.
According to local media, a series of activities are planned:
Deployment of 270 km of fiber-optic cable;
Continued expansion of mobile network and broadband coverage to the 750 identified underserved areas;
Operationalization of mini data centers;
Support for the digitization of 100 administrative procedures;
Construction of citizen service centers;
Strengthening of the digital and regulatory framework.
Through these initiatives, Burkina Faso aims to position itself as an African leader in the integration of information and communication technologies across key sectors, including:
public administration,
education,
health,
trade,
agriculture.
Digital technologies are also expected to play a central role in accelerating the country’s socio-economic development.
