UN Security Council Extends Mandate of MONUSCO in DRC Until December 20, 2026
Authorized strength:
11,500 military personnel;
600 military observers and staff officers;
443 individual police officers;
1,270 personnel in formed police units.
Strategic priorities:
Protection of civilian populations in areas of deployment;
Achievement of the objectives outlined in Security Council Resolution 2773;
Stabilization and strengthening of Congolese state institutions.
Geographic focus:
The mission will concentrate primarily on the provinces of North Kivu and Ituri, which are particularly affected by instability.
