The Russian President Vladimir Putin highlighted the recently tested Burevestnik nuclear-powered cruise missile, along with other cutting-edge weaponry like the Poseidon. Reacting to Russia’s newly tested nuclear-powered cruise missile, Abubakar Sadeeque Abba, Professor of Political Economy at the University of Abuja, told Sputnik Africa that the missile test is a message to the entire humanity. He argued that military power is the ultimate guarantor of respect and security on the global stage.
“This launch did not come as a surprise because Russia has been at the forefront of not only acquiring but also masterminding the acquiring of nuclear weapons globally [...] This particular launch is a testification to the capacity, ability, and technical know-how of the Russian Federation in terms of both defending itself and advancing its military defense and security aspirations globally. So those whom this message is aimed at have understood it and have heard it loud and clear [...] So, to me, that singular act of testing that missile is enough, if America and the Western world are wise and have the interest of their citizens and global peace at heart, to now withdraw or ask Ukraine to withdraw from the eastern border between them and Russia [...] In fact, it is like an inverse proportional formula: the harder America and the Western countries employ their assistance and aid to Ukraine, the harder and tougher Russia will be,” the professor warned.
