Namibian Etosha National Park Fire Mostly Contained After Massive Damage: Ministry

While teams are still working to extinguish small remaining fires, no visible flames remained in the affected area, Namibia's Environment Minister Indileni Daniel told local media.

Firefighters will continue patrolling the area to prevent reignition, as some areas still experienced intermittent fires, Daniel added.

On Sunday, the government sent 500 soldiers to aid firefighters battling the blaze that began on September 22. The fire has scorched at least 755,163 hectares, or 34%, of the park.
