Russia-Ukraine Talks: Key Highlights

On Wednesday, the third round of Russian-Ukrainian talks took place in Istanbul. The first two rounds were held on May 16 and June 2. These earlier negotiations led to the exchange of prisoners and bodies of the deceased, and both parties exchanged draft memorandums.

Highlights from Russian delegation head Medinsky's statements following the third round of negotiations with Ukraine:
▪️The second unprecedentedly large prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine has been completed;
▪️ Russia has proposed to Ukraine the formation of three working groups that will operate online;
▪️ Russia has proposed to Ukraine an exchange of at least 1,200 prisoners of war from each side;
▪️ Russia has offered to hand over to Kiev another 3,000 bodies of deceased Ukrainian servicemen.
▪️Indefinite medical exchanges with Ukraine for the severely wounded and sick at the front line will continue.
▪️Kiev must clarify the status of civilians from the Kursk region being held in Ukraine.
▪️Russia and Ukraine spent a long time discussing the positions outlined in the memorandums during the negotiations, and they are very far apart.
▪️Russia has completed work on the list of Ukrainian children that was handed over during the last round of negotiations.
▪️Russia has raised the issue with Ukraine that Kiev should return Russian children who were taken to Ukraine.
