Zimbabwe Reports Successful Tests of Its Own Lithium-Ion Battery
The state-owned firm Verify Engineering is taking steps toward locally processing the country's natural resources, as the government plans to ban the export of lithium concentrate from 2027.
"We are happy that the product went for some tests lasting the whole year and we can confirm that only last month we recorded zero failure rate on the product," the company's CEO Pedzisai Tapfumaneyi said.
He noted that the locally made battery will typically have a lifespan of about ten years. The firm is now considering developing a large manufacturing plant.
