"Any Country aligning themselves with the Anti-American policies of BRICS, will be charged an ADDITIONAL 10% Tariff. There will be no exceptions to this policy," Trump said on Truth Social.
On Sunday, Russian president Putin stated that BRICS outperforms some associations in terms of purchasing power parity, including the G7, "which stands at $57 trillion," accounting in total for some 40% of the global economy.
Since 2024, BRICS includes, in addition to the founding countries, Egypt, the UAE, Ethiopia, Iran, and, since January 2025, Indonesia. Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam cooperate with the bloc as partners.
