According to the head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian armed forces, Lt. Gen. Alexander Zorin, on Saturday:
"Unfortunately, no one from the Ukrainian side made contact with us today, and the action did not take place. We see reports by Ukrainian and international media that the action has allegedly been postponed until next week. We are waiting for official notifications on this issue," Zorin said.
Russia is ready to hand over to Ukraine the bodies of Ukrainian troops right now, Zorin said.
"We are ready to work right now, because the bodies are in close proximity to the exchange site, and we are interested in the fulfillment of this purely humanitarian action, which was achieved as a result of the second round of the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations in Istanbul," he added.
