Aides to US President Donald Trump scheduled a phone call with entrepreneur Elon Musk for Friday to "broker a peace" between the two, the US newspaper reported.
"Oh it's okay... It's going very well, never done better," Trump told the newspaper when asked about the public breakup with Musk.
Trump replied that Musk "just went CRAZY" after he left his role as the head of the US Department of Government Efficiency and added that terminating government contracts and subsidies received by the companies belonging to the US billionaire would have been the "easiest way to save money" for the US budget.
In turn, Musk said that the sitting US president is in the files related to the case of US financier Jeffrey Epstein, financier, who was charged with sex trafficking, and this is the reason why they have not been released in full.
"Time to drop the really big bomb: Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!" Musk said on X.
The businessman even expressed support for the idea of impeaching him and replacing him with Vice President JD Vance.
"Yes," Musk said on X in reply to a post that suggested the idea of impeachment and said that in Trump-Musk discord, the latter is the favorite.
Musk has been vocally critical of Trump's One Big, Beautiful Bill on tax cuts and government borrowing limits.
Musk said during the spat that his space company SpaceX will start decommissioning its Dragon spacecraft "immediately," but soon reversed the statement.
The entrepreneur made the statement in response to an X user’s advice to "cool off" amid the conflict with Trump. The user emphasized that Musk and Trump are "both better than this."
"Good advice. Ok, we won’t decommission Dragon," Musk said on X.
