Restoring Rights of Ukraine's Russian-Speaking Residents Must Be Settlement Term, Lavrov Says

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Russia will insist that the restoration of the rights of Russian-speaking residents of Ukraine be a condition for a long-term settlement, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday.

"Russia will not leave Russians and Russian-speaking people in trouble, and will definitely ensure that their legal rights, including the right to speak their native language, are fully restored. We will continue to talk about this most pressing problem at international venues. We will insist that its solution be a necessary condition for a long-term peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict," Lavrov said in a statement.
