The UN Security Council missed an opportunity to establish peace in the Gaza Strip by not adopting the latest draft on a permanent ceasefire in the enclave, Russian Ambassador to the UN Vassily Nebenzia said on Wednesday.
"Yet another opportunity was missed to show that the Security Council is ready to shoulder its responsibility for maintaining international peace and security in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict," Nebenzia told the UN Security Council during a meeting on Gaza.
The ambassador noted that it is clear who wants peace and who wants to 'continue playing political games'.
