India increased its import of Russian oil products to a record $810 million, according to a new Sputnik analysis of India’s customs data.
This was the highest such purchase value in the history of bilateral trade. The last time similar values were recorded was in October 2023, when India purchased 1.4 million tonnes of oil products from Russia for a total value of $711 million.
Russia is a major supplier of petroleum products to the Indian market.
In the first quarter of this year, India purchased a total of 2 million tonnes of oil products from Russia for $1.05 billion.
