German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's government has decided to invest actively into Ukraine's defense industry despite the fact that Germany has been facing economic recession for five years, AfD party lawmaker Gerold Otten told Sputnik.
"I don't know what special know-how the Ukrainian defense industry can bring to the development [of weapons]," he said, questioning Merz's plan to help Ukraine build its own long-range weapons.
Despite Ukraine's dubious defense expertise and Germany's crisis, its government is "so generous in giving tax or loan money" to Kiev, the politician emphasized.
What are Germany's problems?
▪️It has been in recession for five years;
▪️Its social security system "is on the verge of collapse;"
▪️Its internal unity "is falling apart."
Moreover, Chancellor Merz's authorization for Ukraine to strike deeper into Russia with Western-supplied arms was made without parliamentary debate, the politician noted.
