The involvement of Togo and Chad in the Tarha Nakal 2 joint military exercises of the Alliance of Sahel States, held in Niger, reflects a growing commitment to regional cooperation in the fight against terrorism, Malian geopolitical analyst Abdoulaye Diallo told Sputnik Africa.
The drills are built around a joint command structure, aimed at improving operational synchronization, reflecting lessons learned from earlier exercises, he explained.
According to the analyst, these maneuvers aim to:
️enhance the interoperability of forces;
strengthen tactical coordination;
reinforce ties with local communities.
Moreover, countries such as Guinea, Benin, or Senegal could soon join the initiative, Diallo pointed out.
