German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's statements on long-range weapons hinder the attempts to reach the peace process path in Ukraine, he added.
"This is an irresponsible position that Germany is taking. I hope it will not become a serious obstacle to further attempts at a peaceful settlement," Peskov told reporters in response to a question from reporters about Merz's statements.
Earlier in the day, Merz said that Germany will help Ukraine develop its own long-range weapons.
Such statements are further provoking the conflict, the spokesman added.
"This is nothing but further provocation of war, it is nothing but further attempts to force Ukrainians to fight further," Peskov said.
Russia hopes that Merz's statements on long-range weapons will not become a serious obstacle to the further attempts at a peaceful settlement and that it will be able to continue, Peskov said.
Russia expects to hold second round of talks with Ukraine, exchange draft memorandum soon.
Furthermore, Moscow sees that Germany competing with France to further provoke war, the Kremlin added.
