Turnout in Gabon's Presidential Election Estimated at 87.21%

The turnout in Gabon's presidential election estimated at 87.21% by the country's interior ministry after the election, which took place on April 12.

"The vote took place calmly and peacefully," Jean Eric Nziengui Mangala, spokesperson for the ministry, said on national television.
Eight candidates were in the running, including the transitional president, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema.
The first results could be announced on Monday.
According to the сonstitution, which was adopted by referendum on November 16, 2024, the candidate declared elected will lead the country for a seven-year term, renewable only once.
