US, Russian Teams to Meet in Istanbul on Thursday, Ukraine Not on Agenda, State Department Says

The Russian delegation will be represented by Ambassador Darchiev, while the American delegation will be led by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Coulter, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday. The consultations will continue focused efforts to address a variety of issues concerning the work of diplomats from both countries, it added.

US and Russian teams will meet in Istanbul on Thursday, Ukraine is not on the agenda, State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said.
"US and Russian delegations will meet for a second time in Istanbul to try to make progress on further stabilizing the operations of our bilateral missions," the US official told reporters.
The talks in Istanbul will not focus on normalizing bilateral relations between the two countries because this matter can only be addressed after a peace agreement is reached between Russia and Ukraine, Bruce emphasized.
