The upcoming talks between the United States and Iran on Saturday aims to determine "what’s possible" in the conversations with Tehran, US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said on Tuesday.
"This is not a negotiation. There aren’t things being negotiated in that regard. This has been described to me as something that is a matter of determining what’s possible in the conversations. It’s a touchback, and that’s the extent of what will be happening," Bruce told reporters.
Earlier in the day, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Iran-US direct talks will be held on Saturday. Meanwhile, Iran's main goal in the negotiation process with the US is to lift sanctions against Tehran, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi noted on Tuesday.
