On March 24, the Democratic Republic of the Congo will begin consultations aimed at forming a national unity government.
The consultations will involve:
The ruling parliamentary coalition, the Union Sacrée;
Opposition parties from both inside and outside parliament;
Civil society and prominent figures, including former presidential candidates, as announced by a presidential advisor on March 22.
The consultations will be based on several key principles:
The supremacy of the Constitution;
National unity;
The inviolability of borders and national sovereignty;
Respect for established institutions;
Inclusive and participatory governance.
The process is expected to be completed within a maximum of two weeks, according to Radio Okapi.
