Ethiopia has become a top Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) destination due to industrial parks and Special Economic Zones (SEZ), the Ethiopian Investment Commission said.
This shift is largely attributed to the new SEZ legislation, which restructures Ethiopia’s economic policy by providing a clear framework for establishing and governing these zones. The Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) stated that these SEZs encompass a diverse investment landscape, including industrial parks, free trade zones, and science, technology, service, and agriculture/livestock parks.
The key to attracting investment lies in the incentives. Investors can expect tax breaks, streamlined business processes, and robust infrastructure development. The EIC believes that effective SEZ implementation will attract significant FDI, boost trade competitiveness, and drive sustainable economic growth, allowing FDIs to leverage Ethiopia's strategic location, growing market, and favorable business climate.
